RARE MID-18TH CENTURY ENGLISH OAK DESK
This wonderful small mid-18th century writing desk is a truly rare and delightful piece of English country furniture. The moulded-edge top is of three planks and has cleated ends; on either side of the base are three graduated drawers and a small single drawer with brass ring pulls, with a shaped frieze below. One really charming detail is an attractively turned quarter-column set into the inside of each of the two front legs; the front legs also have concealed castors, in the manner of an extending architect's table; another unusual detail is the quatrefoil cut-out in each of the bracket feet.
